Young Drivers Learn Advanced Car Control Skills
Young drivers get the basics needed to pass the driver license exam from standard driver’s ed courses, but they learn little about car control on real world streets and highways. Every new young driver can benefit from extra training designed to better prepare them to control a car in routine and emergency driving conditions. Think of this extra education as the “graduate level” of driver’s ed.
The Glacier Lakes Quattro Club, a volunteer, non-profit car club for Audi enthusiasts, picks up where driver’s ed leaves off by offering a full day program with emphasis on behind-the-wheel car control. Young drivers practice skid control, effective braking, accident avoidance, weight transfer control and other car control techniques - all in their own cars. Their volunteer team of highly trained and experienced driving coaches give personalized, in-car instruction. The club’s Teen Driving Clinics are conducted on a dedicated driving safety facility at Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount, Minnesota. Drivers do not have to be members of the club - all they need is a driver’s license or permit and a car. The club is dedicated to the goal of further educating young drivers to ultimately save lives.
